Grammar Explanation

•  There are words that are confused because they sound similar:
  • Example: There /their
    At the community meeting last week, there were several individuals who complained that their concerns were not being given enough attention.
•  There are words that are confused because they are spelled in a similar manner:
  • Example: Except /expect
    Most tenants, except those who live in rent stabilized units, expect their rents to continue to rise considerably.
